# What is G7 Master certification and why does it matter for color?
## Learn how Bradford & Bigelow's G7 Master qualification ensures consistent, predictable color across print runs.
G7 Master is a qualification awarded by IDEAlliance that certifies a printing facility has calibrated its presses to the G7 methodology, a globally recognized color management standard. Bradford & Bigelow is a G7 Master qualified facility.
**What G7 focuses on**
G7 methodology focuses on achieving consistent neutral grays and tonal balance across devices and production runs. The principle is straightforward: when grayscale calibration is correct, overall color reproduction becomes more predictable and repeatable. Human eyes are highly sensitive to shifts in neutral tones, making gray balance a reliable anchor for overall color accuracy.
**Why it matters for your project**
Four-color educational materials often include photography, detailed infographics, skin tones, subtle gradients, and layered illustrations. Without structured color control, these elements can vary noticeably from run to run. G7 calibration ensures tonal reproduction is measured and controlled rather than adjusted by eye, reducing press-side corrections and the risk of costly reprints.
G7 also strengthens the alignment between proofing systems and press output meaning when you approve a proof, the finished print is more likely to match what you signed off on.
**What it means over time**
For publishers with multi-edition programs or titles that reprint regularly, G7 calibration reduces color drift between runs. Covers stay consistent across reprints, logos reproduce accurately, and long-term programs don't experience visible color shifts.
